Coralville Animal Hospital Policies : Effective MARCH 2025
Pet Arrival Procedures:
All pets, even the most behaved ones, must be on leash or in a carrier. In the event you need to borrow a leash or carrier, please call the hospital upon arrival and our staff will assist you.
In the event that your dog is coughing, sneezing, or showing signs of infectious disease, please keep your pet in your vehicle upon arrival. Please call our office and inform the staff that you are here and we will inform you once a room is available to minimize your pets interactions with other patients.
Once in the examination room, we require that you allow our trained technicians and assistants to restrain your animals, for the safety of your pet, yourself, and our staff.
Appointment Policy:
To allow appropriate time for our doctors to see scheduled appointments, we accept patients by appointments only.
When an emergency arises, please call in advance and we will do our best to triage patient needs and accommodate in house or refer to the local emergency facility if necessary. Due to unpredictable circumstances, the inevitable emergency and appointment delay may arise. We make a sincere attempt to see each patient on time and we thank you for your patience and understanding.
Surgery Deposit Policy:
The Surgery Deposit has been designed to maintain an efficient surgery schedule and ensure the fair distribution of the doctor’s surgery time for all patients. The deposit is required to reserve your desired surgical date and is due at the time of reserving the date of your service.
Surgery Deposit cost: $100 per surgical procedure
We understand that personal situations can arise unexpectedly, therefore, you may reschedule your surgery three times within 90 days of the date of the deposit without penalty, provided the reschedule occurs 24 hours prior to the day of surgery. Any same-day cancellations are subject to deposit forfeit. If surgery is not performed or the deposit is not used for the scheduled services within 90 days, the deposit is forfeited. If an appointment is canceled by us due to a “No Show”, the deposit is forfeited.
- Cancellations/Reschedules can be accepted by call or email.
- Cancellations/Reschedules must be 24 hours prior to your scheduled procedure date.
- If you are scheduled for surgery on Monday, you must cancel/reschedule before 3 pm the Friday before. We are closed Saturday, and Sunday.
Final payments must be received at the time of the surgical discharge. The deposit amount will be subtracted from the final bill. All Deposits are final regardless of the outcome of the procedure.
Late Arrival:
Please arrive on time for your pets’ appointment, as failure to do so may result in your appointment being rescheduled. Please call our office if you know you are going to be over 10 minutes late so we can advise you on whether we need to reschedule your appointment.

On Line Pharmacy:
Coralville Animal Hospital makes every possible effort to ensure that our patients receive the very best pharmaceutical products available. Iowa law requires that your pet must receive a wellness exam every 12 months from one of our veterinarians in order for us to prescribe medications for your pet. Coralville Animal Hospital maintains an on-site pharmacy to meet all of your pet’s health care needs. During your appointment, your pet’s prescriptions will be prepared, instructions and demonstrations for administering medications will be given, and you will receive information about possible side effects of all medications. Occasionally your pet may need a product that we do not keep in our pharmacy, or that needs to be specially prepared by pharmacist. In these cases the product will be ordered for you by our staff.
Your pet may be prescribed medications that need to be refilled. In these cases, Coralville Animal Hospital is able to provide refills of prescribed medications, either from our on-site pharmacy or from our on-line pharmacy. For prescription refills at Coralville Animal Hospital, please call the office or submit a refill request through our website.
Coralville Animal Hospital is able to provide on-line prescriptions directly to you through our pharmacy whose products come directly from the manufacturer. Simply click on the online pharmacy button on the home page to explore our services. There is no need to obtain a written prescription from us to take advantage of the convenience of our on-line pharmacy, since prescription information is entered directly by our staff. Products are shipped directly to you, and many prices match those of other large discount on-line providers. If you are interested in obtaining prescriptions through this service, let your veterinary technician know during your appointment and our staff will arrange services for you.
